Anne M Burlingame

Anne M. Burlingame, nee Serratore,  of Norristown, PA passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on March 21, 2024 at the age of 99.  She was the last surviving sibling of her large Serratore family.  Born in Ambler, PA, she was the daughter of the late Pietro and Josephine (Mascaro) Serratore.  She is survived by her sons Robert (Susan) Burlingame, Richard (Denise) Burlingame and Albert Burlingame;  loving grandmother of Heather (Josh) Sparklin, Philip (Laura, fiancee) Burlingame, Eric (Melissa, fiancee) Burlingame, Samantha Burlingame and Karen Burlingame.  She is preceded in death by her husband Robert P. Burlingame, and her siblings, Peter Serratore, Joseph Serratore, Mary (Serratore) Malander, Viola (Serratore) Grebe, Winifred Serratore,  Frank Serratore, Tony Serratore, Catherine (Serratore) Paiva, Virginia (Serratore) Lasorda, Jeannette (Serratore) Damask, Betty (Serratore) Sponburgh and her foster sisters, Eleanor (Constable) Petrone,  Anne (Constable)Rubert and Gloria (Constable) Ronca.   

Anne was a resident of Norristown and a life-long member of Holy Saviour parish.  She was active in Mother's Club, a Cub Scout den mother, and a member of Bishop Kenrick’s High School Band Parents.  Once her three boys were all in school, she entered into the workforce and spent many years working as a catalog sales associate for Sears Corporation.  Anne relished the challenge of assisting her customers with their telephone based Sears catalog orders.

Baking was her passion, especially making her cherished Christmas cookies which she generously shared with everyone.  Receiving a loaf of her date-nut bread, homemade cannolis, pizzelles, or the many cookie varieties was a highly anticipated treat.   Her hobbies included ceramics, gardening and, in later life scratch-off lottery tickets and meticulously coloring phenomenal pieces of art.  Baking, cooking and her hobbies, however took a back seat to her true calling which was to love, protect and encourage her family and friends.  Family and friends always came first.  Our mom would be there to lend a hand and provide love and support in anyway possible.  

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 9:00-10:00am EDT at Holy Saviour Church, Norristown, PA followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am.

Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Volpe Funeral Home, East Norriton, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be sent to Holy Saviour Parish, 407 E. Main Street, Norristown, PA  19401.
